Maintaining Momentum When You Have No Motivation
Blazing your own path isn’t always a walk in the park. We all get stuck in ruts that threaten to derail our forward momentum. But how can you fight through the obstacles and keep the ball rolling when you lack the motivation?
This is a quick video post that highlights one little trick I used last week to “snap” out of it. Have a great weekend!

Hey Paul,
The strategy of just working on it for 15 minutes is one my Mom taught me–he results were the same as yours: 15 minutes turns into an hour and so on.
Sometimes we just have to trick ourselves.
I’m an artist and I’ve had those moments when you’re stuck or feel unmotivated. I wrote about it in 10 Life Changing Lessons I Learned From Painting.
Have a great weekend,
Jill

Hi Jill – I know exactly what you mean by “tricking” ourselves into taking action. Most of the time, all it takes to break through are just that one, little nudge. Thanks for stopping by!

Great video, Paul! This is an important topic and you are right on. It is refreshing & inspiring to hear about your own struggles with your business and how you are getting over the “bumps in the road.”
I love the video post format. You’ve got a great, soothing voice. You should think about doing some audio books!

It’s still a little weird to hear what I sound like on video so I’m glad that at least one person isn’t offended or turned away by my voice

Hey paul!!
first off: mad cool lava slick raw honest site. really dig it.
and then to the content, really dug this. big fan of “tricking” the tricky ego and excuses.
also cool to see how other people on a similar path are running into things like these: i just went through 6 weeks without posting anything on my site and regaining momentum was an insane task. used a lot of similar techniques to what you suggest.
super awesomeness.
keep well and in touch mate
alex – unleash reality
Alex – I know what you mean about reclaiming momentum. Makes you wonder why you didn’t put in a little effort to maintain in the first place, huh? I’m glad to see you are back on track. I’ve been to your blog before and I like it a lot so I’m looking forward to future posts. Thanks for the great comment and stay in touch…Paul
Thanks,
It is nice to know someone else who shares that “want to succeed” but lack motivation at times. I will use this for sure!
