		<description>Paul,

Your first dollars online make it all real. Sure, you&#039;ve still got a long way to go but you will never forget those first 100.

I still remember the smell of my first check I got in the mail from google. I used to stare at it and pinch myself.

Great going

		<description>Paul

Congratulations on the first $100, just the first trickle of so much more I&#039;m sure!!

I&#039;m yet to delve into PPC as have it on the backburner due to cost but interesting to see that you were able to make money with limited experience.
Keep up the good work

		<description>Hi Paul,

May I just say what a very interesting post you&#039;ve made here, I really enjoyed reading it.

The reason I probably find it so interesting is, well I&#039;ve got $75 of google adword vouchers to spend! :D

I think I will have to have a little experiment with some affiliate programs. I mean I might as well seeing as the vouchers were free, right? Of course I&#039;m going to use a good chunk of the money on ads to help build my list. But If I&#039;m going to do an experiment promoting affilate products via PPC, doing it with a small proportion of my free vouchers certainly makes sense.

I&#039;ve never played with PPC before though, just wondering if you could point me in the direction of some good free info on the subject?

Thanks for the great post,

Paul.

		<description>Hey all -

Just a quick update on my experience with direct linking. I am shifting away from this strategy to focus my efforts on developing quality landing pages that will lead to opt-ins (the money is in the list). Direct linking can still work but I&#039;ve figured out it&#039;s a short-term, stop-gap method of generating revenue. A better strategy is to build a list and offer affiliate products to said list. This allows you to profit from multiple interactions with the same prospect as opposed to the &quot;one-and-done&quot; method of direct linking.

Let me know if any of you have any experience in this area...

<description>This is so interesting, Paul, and congrats at being so honest about everything. I have ventured into PPC, and have only made a little on a few affiliate sales. Maybe I can follow Chloe&#039;s training program and learn something? :)

Your effort is admirable, and makes me want to work harder at making money online. Go Paul!! :)

		<description>Hi Paul,

It&#039;s good to hear any success stories from fellow students.

Like yourself, I&#039;m a couple of months in and so far zip. But I&#039;m confident that the new product I&#039;m developing will help turn the corner.

Keep up the good work and share any other techniques that work for you.

Speak soon,
John

		<description>Hey Paul,

Good insight to PPC, the pitfalls and benefits.

Adwords is a toughy. Rememebr when I first signed for clickbank a while ago and went the same route as you...what could be easier I thought, put up an ad, insert the link, add a few keywords and hey presto, clickbank/paypal account overflowing with cash........

yes you can make sales this way, but if your not careful, you can fallover fast and find your self just breaking even, sometimes losing out.

I found that one out!

All the same though, if you become an expert with landing pages and ppc, you can make a lot of money!

All part of the learning curve.

Talk soon.

		<description>Hi Paul,

Adwords is a tough game. Usually it takes money to test and tweak, then sometimes it makes a return (not always), and then you lose money because min bids explode (or you just stop making any if you had a rather low max bid).

When there is competition, the prospect knows he/she can hit back button and try out another ad. They see it before clicking on the first one, and know they can come back.

That makes Adwords anything but passive. And very little fun after a while.

To me the only passive income comes from a good SE rank. Although not completely stable, they are a lot more so than CPC.

Good luck!
Charles

		<description>Hey Paul,

Yeah, I agree with Dave. Just chalk it up as valuable learning experience. A couple of years ago, I tried Google Adsense on an old website and made about $2 in three months. This time around I&#039;m relying more on affiliate partnerships with other bloggers cutting Google out of the equation. It&#039;s much better.
I also plan to develop my own product and sell it on my site and have other affiliate partners sell it for me.

<description>Think of it as more of a learning experience. I haven&#039;t earned, but $100 either. Hopefully, all the learning we do now will pay off in the long run.
